She is crawling! Almost exactly 8 months old and now much more mobile. Yay for my Princess!
Crawling:
Thursday, while I was working on the laptop, Isabella was playing on the floor in the office. I was trying very hard to work quickly on my laptop and entertain her on the floor, but it wasn’t working. She was not happy.
So I grabbed a plastic cup and because I grabbed that cup she wanted it. {It had been on the floor the whole time but she didn’t care about it until I touched it, why do kids do that?} So I put it just outside of her reach and she began crawling towards it. I was so happy. I clapped enthusiastically and said “Yay Isabella!” and of course she was all smiles.
We then went in the bedroom I put a bottle outside her reach. She has not been drinking out of a bottle but since I was touching it she wanted it too. So she crawled again for it! (On a side note, she loved the bottle so I put some cold water in it from the fridge and she happily drank out of the bottle as well!) It was a day of firsts! She had not had water from a bottle before.
When daddy got home for lunch I told him and so of course he wanted to see for himself. Whenever daddy comes home he HAS to pick up Isabella or else she will cry. She wants him very badly every day. Isabella is truly a daddy’s girl. So he didn’t pick her up and instead said, “Come on Isabella come on!” and of course she just cried and didn’t crawl. She was a pitiful mess! So I told him he had to put something in front of her she would want. So I grabbed the first thing within my reach in the kitchen – a yellow bell pepper from the local Farmer’s Market. She has never paid attention to a yellow bell pepper before but I knew she would want it. She always wants anything new, especially if it is not one of her “OLD toys”. So he put it in front of her and slowly moved it away and she crawled across the entire living room floor! It was exciting. She is almost 8 months and is now crawling!
We also had a great 9th anniversary this year. We spent it at Lake Tahoe. I will have to share about that another day. My Princess is fussy right now. It is bedtime. The life of a mother with a baby – no one tells you how difficult it can be. But those moments like crawling have made it all worth it.
Jarod says
I remember those days well. Gracie started crawling at exactly 8 months, and walking at exactly 10 months. Beware! It’s so much fun once they start crawling and walking, but after a little while, when they start to get the “hang of it”, you’ll spend most of your day chasing them around taking pens out of their hands.
So nice to hear what’s happening in your life!
Love, Beth
