My Favorite Thing About Easter

Easter is almost here.

Are you excited?

Are you ready?

We have a break between seminars that allows us to be at home for the Easter holiday. I am very excited about that. When we are gone for 8+ months out of the year, we miss some holidays and birthdays.  That is one of the many reasons that a job on the road is difficult. But it is worth it for us.

When we share the Gospel message with communities across the country, and lives are changed, it is worth it. Without the hope of the resurrection, this entire life would be pointless. Everything we do, the reason we are Christians today, is because Jesus lived on Earth, died for our sins, and was resurrected to give us the hope of one day being in Heaven with Him forever.

This year, Easter will be spent with family! Whohoo! {Can you tell, I am very excited!}

My favorite thing about Easter is not the candy, eggs, or even the dinner. (And let me tell you, the dinner is always VERY good.) I love being able to worship together and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. This is the real reason for Easter.

Don’t get me wrong. I love decorating Easter eggs. It has been one of my favorite things to do since childhood. I get excited to watch my Princess decorate eggs, and then the act of hiding them and watching her search for them brings great joy.

Furthermore, I do like the candy. I mean, who doesn’t like chocolate Easter eggs and bunny rabbits. I wish I could eat a Reese’s PB egg every day this time of year. (My hips won’t be happy with me though.) The after Easter clearance? I love it!

Now, that I have been active in the blogging world, I also love all the children’s Easter crafts and printables available. They are great. Many great people have put together so many ideas. Things that I cannot even imagine are at the touch of a keyboard.

But these are still not the best things about Easter. These are my favorite things about Easter:

1. Getting together as a family
2. Going to a local church service to watch a resurrection production
3. Reading and contemplating the resurrection story

A new tradition has begun as well in our home. It is called Resurrection Eggs. Have you heard of these? I love them. They tell the story of the Resurrection of Jesus through small toys inside plastic eggs. My Princess really loves it. She has been memorizing the story as she opens the eggs. It is a great way for a child to learn and understand this exciting story in Christian history. It is the real reason of Easter. The Hope of Easter is Jesus Christ.

So, Easter is almost here! Are you ready?
