While we are visiting Montreal we took a visit to Mont-Royal.
Thankfully the parking meters were in English as well as French (this is not the case in all of Montreal). Walking in this green, serene, and beautiful park was a big highlight of the week for me.
The smell of wet grass, trees and bushes was overwhelming and sweet. It reminded me of fall weather and most especially of home in the Pacific Northwest.
Though, Montreal is a big city this piece of it, makes you feel like you are in the woods on a hike simply enjoying nature.
The view from the lookout at the chalet is breath taking. Montreal is truly a magnificent city. Along the lookout wall there are very cool view finders that show you the buildings downtown. It is fun to gaze down and know what you are looking at.
Inside the chalet is an elegant beauty that shows old fashioned architecture paired with modernity. We were able to buy a treat, and shop for postcards inside.
Down the hill from the chalet, a short walk along very well paved paths, is the Smith home. A place to get a hot drink, shop in the boutique and head downstairs to see the rock formations in the basement with an indigenous peoples feature.
Beaver Lake is beautiful and the wildlife abundant. And the old cemetery located in Mont Royal park is picturesque and though we did not go inside it was nice to drive by it all and enjoy the scenery.
