This week I reviewed the CopyKids Eat Fruits and Vegetables DVD, and my daughter watched other children eating tomatoes. This really had an effect on her. We made bean burritos for lunch this week, and while I was cutting up tomatoes, my Princess asked to eat a piece plain!
Now, she loves pico de gallo salsa that is chock full of tomatoes. She also likes tomatoes on her Subway sandwiches and veggie burgers, but she has never eaten a tomato alone.
I gave her a small piece and she LOVED it! In fact, while I was heating up beans she kept on eating pieces. Before watching this video I had to argue with her to put 4 small pieces in her burrito 2 weeks ago! Now she wants to finish my tomato pile.
Let’s just say I was super impressed.
We love to eat healthy with lots of fruits and vegetables in our diet already, so I was glad to read a blog post this week about child hood obesity. Celebrate Woman Today, is a great blog, and in one post she speaks about plant based foods lowering the risk of childhood obesity.
So to quote her post:
Add more vegetables and fruit into your kid’s daily diet!
What tips do you have to get your kids to eat more fruits and vegetables?

What a great DVD and I am really looking forward to watching it
I didn’t know how well received it would be. I mean it is just children eating fruits and vegetables. But my 4 year old really loved it! 🙂
This is great. We are trying to get my daughter to eat more vegetables. Really appreciate it!
It seems weird but as my daughter gets older, she seems to get more picky. We are trying to get her to try out new things though.
My 16 month old is all about self-feeding so any vegetable that he can eat on his own is perfect – I also use tomatoes, squash and other vegetable purees in my baking to add both flavor and nutrition to things like quick breads, muffins and other treats.
Heather, I am excited to make my own baby food this time around. When my 4 year old was a baby she loved all those vegetables too. But now, she is just getting more picky. Trying to curb that.
That’s the second time I’ve heard of a kid watching this DVD and trying something new. I think it’s magic!
It just might be, Kathleen 😉
I have got to get something like this for my son he is SO picky right now, however the only thing i can get him to eat is broccoli
Thankfully, my daughter loves broccoli too. The video features bell peppers and she won’t even try those! 🙂
A few tips on getting your kids to eat their veggies: 1 – let them pick out a new one at the store each week. This is guaranteed to get them to at least try it; 2 – grow some veggies (even in a pot), if they are involved in the process and then can later go pick them, they’ll try them; and 3 – have them try just a bite every time you prepare them (and prepare them often). It may take months of “one bites,” but sooner or later they’ll be eating their veggies! Good luck – raising healthy eaters is one of the best things you can do for your kids – you will save them many health and weight problems in the future.
These are great tips Pam. Thanks so much for stopping by to share them. I think good health and healthy eating is very important.
I thought, obesity of my son is just a normal case that cannot effect his health but last week he is confined and my Doctor suggested me to take good care of my son and provides delicious but nutritious foods, especially tomatoes that can help to him…
Amazing the impact that watching what another kid will eat, will impact what your child will eat. I think it is one of the reasons why so many school kids in Vancouver will eat sushi.
