A family friend gave my mother a gift for Easter that was such a great idea, I decided to duplicate it. Truly an amazing children’s artwork idea.
Make cards out of your child’s artwork!
Pretty simple, huh?
My daughter loves drawing pictures but I can’t keep every one of them. I already knew that about the idea of scanning the artwork and making a book, but some of the her more “favorite” pictures can easily be made into blank note cards.
Here is one of her pictures which I named “Happy Tulips” and scanned into the computer. I then uploaded the jpg file to a photo/card making site:
It was so simple:
- Scan in the drawing
- Upload to a photo site (I used Costco)
- Make a greeting card
- Order the amount you’d like
- Send to family and friends
Voila! A unique card that costs less than a card from the store. Plus, it has true sentimental value.
What ways do you save your children’s artwork? I’d love to learn new ideas!

What an awesome idea!!! I should really do this because when I try to get my three year old to draw or write in people’s cards, he does NOT want to, but I could have cards on hand with drawings already on them! BRILLIANT!

Thanks, Gena. Once the 10 I ordered run out, I think I will do it again. We sent one for Mother’s Day to family. I like it better than buying a card at the store.

Love that idea! My sons grandparents and great grandparents would love cards with his artwork.

Awesome 🙂 We’ve done this before as well and it’s always a hit (especially with Father’s Day coming up).

Love this idea! I have seen it before for Christmas cards, but not as regular “thinking of you” cards. Usually when we are overrun with artwork, I start mailing them to the grandparents.

That is a good idea too, Dede. We have been throwing a lot away, but I hate to do that.
