Last week, we decided we needed to beautify our front yard. Last year we pulled out all this lava rock that the previous owner had put it. We pulled out the roses and rhododendrons as well. In its place we added bark and large planters (plastic from Costco). In January we planted bulbs that would be sure to come up in Spring. Don’t you love tulips? They are a personal favorite of mine. We also had an old set of four smaller planters that were faded and weathered looking. We purchased some spray paint at our local Lowe’s and gave those old pots a much needed facelift. This was much cheaper than buying new pots and we can use the spray paint for other projects. Inside the smaller pots are a cheap and easy to plant flower – marigolds. We like pretty flowers but affordable flowers.
We also have two larger wooden pots (that we will be re-staining again soon) in the front of our house. We added Gerber Daisies to those two pots. My Little Man started digging in the other pot (not shown) and dug up some of the flowers and dirt. Ugh! Almost two year old boys are such a handful! And yes, that is his sister’s pink Barbie Jeep and no, he can’t drive it yet. But almost.
We also have had these beat up flower puts under our back deck. With the spray paint they look new again! We bought a few extra marigolds and planted those to brighten up the very front of our yard.
How do you keep your yard beautiful? Do you have a favorite flower or plant?
{I’m always looking for great ideas!}
I am thankful we had a few sunny and warm days here in Western Washington to do front yard work. I think it got up to 76 degrees on this day! That is pretty hot for us in the Seattle area. The whole family loved it and literally spent all day outside. That temperature means sweating. To be honest, I hate sweating. So I am thankful that when I am doing yard work out front I have a deodorant strong enough to keep me dry and smelling great.
I tried the clear gel in the lavender scent and love it! This deodorant helps my arm pits stay dry. It also goes on easily without feeling “wet”. I like not having white marks on my clothes too. Have you tried Secret Clinical Strength? You MUST! You can find it at your local Walmart.
