This fall my daughter is playing soccer for the first time. She loves it. I am happy because as a homeschooler, she can get out and play with the town’s children in a city league. Plus, she’s getting exercise, which is always good. So yes, I am now officially a soccer mom.
You know you’re a soccer mom when:
- You don’t spare any expense on hot pink socks.
- You decide your kid’s black athletic shorts are stylish for any day of the week.
- You think your kid is the best player on the team.
- You can’t believe how immature all the other kids on the team seem.
- You take too many photos on your iPhone of your kid “stopping” the soccer ball.
The first week of practice we even had the right soccer mom car – a purple Mitsubishi Mirage. I honestly was the envy of all the young girls in my small town. We had the chance to review the car for a week and my Princess didn’t want to give it back. Ever. People (ladies obviously) kept asking me on Facebook where I got the car. They loved it.
About the Mitsubishi Mirage
This four door, five passenger hatchback car gets amazing gas mileage – 37 MPG city and 44 MPG highway! That’s pretty awesome don’t you think? Because it is only 3 cylinders, the Mirage isn’t as fast up hill or on the freeway but it really zips around town. The trunk space is quite large for this car size and I was easily able to do my errands and grocery shopping with the kids. I also appreciated how quiet this car was when driving at faster speeds. Many smaller cars, I’ve noticed, are loud and higher speeds and have an uneven bumpy ride but not the Mirage. It drives quite smoothly.
The seats aren’t super comfy, a fifth person does not fit that well between two car seats (if at all) and the speaker quality wasn’t the greatest but for the affordable price and great gas mileage that could be easily be overlooked. I’d recommend this as a definite commuter car or even a first car for your child going off to college. {Yes, it did get a great safety rating – with seven air bags and an almost roll bar, this small car can keep you safe.}
The Mitsubishi Mirage is just so cute , isn’t it?
A fun “soccer mom” car indeed! My Princesss first game is Friday and we are pretty excited to cheer her on. Soccer will go through the end of October and then we are thinking she can either take gymnastics or swim lessons.
Have your kids played soccer? Did they love it?

Thanks Rebecca! The car was pretty fun for us girls! I squeezed my sister and mom in it with me and the kids and we had a blast.

Had to laugh that the socks match the car. I think that is perfect. Thanks for the review about the seats We have a family of five and the oldest would not appreciate sitting between two car seats.

Such great gas mileage, Kelly! Almost as good as a hybrid but much much cheaper!

I’m not a soccer mom but a football and basketball mom and with all the driving I do with all the practices this would come in handy….. and what a fun color for this car. Love it!

I like the color of the car. My oldest son and daughter had their first game last Sunday and I took plenty of pictures!
