She is almost 8. Yet, it feels like she is 8 going on 14. I am almost positive I wasn’t so mature at her age. I was happily playing with My Little Pony, Barbie, and Care Bears. But, it’s a different time I suppose. Though she still loves her Barbies and Calico Critters – she is starting to show interest in tween things like books, television shows, music, fashion and beauty.
Her childhood is going by so quickly.
I am not ready for her to grow up so fast. But she loves being a big girl and no matter how hard mothers try, you just can’t stop time. Now, when we stand side by side she is already up to my chin. I feel so short when I put my arm around her shoulders.
She is ready for her own bedroom. When we bought our home, a foreclosure at an amazing deal, we knew that three bedrooms might get “tight”. But, we loved the home, still do, and the square footage of the common areas was what we really wanted. My husband and I don’t want our kids to hang out in their rooms all day – but spend time together as a family in the kitchen, living room, play room, and dining room.
Girls. They know what they want. My Princess cannot wait to move into the third bedroom, which is currently the home office and redecorate. This month we visited a very fun interactive site, RoomLookz and designed fun bedroom decor for a future bedroom. Of course, we also were able to review a few items and she gladly cleaned her dresser off to display her big girl items.
Why not add a dash of fashion to the bedroom as the little girl transforms into a confident teen?
RoomLookz is a tween bedroom “community” that was created by the stylish trendsetters of Lockerlookz, makers of ooh-lah lah locker decor. RoomLookz is a perfect stylish yet practical gift option for this upcoming holiday season. You can create your own “wish list” room decor with your Tween (like we did above). Plus, the prices are RoomLookz are great! My Princess and I picked out four items to review: the LED Tabletop Lamp, Magnetic Dry Erase Wallboard, Magnetic Storage Bin, and the Acrylic Tabletop Caddy. You can also find the following amazing Tween bedroom accessories at RoomLookz:
- Peel & Stick Wallpaper • $19.99
- Flower Magnet • $3.99
- Gem Magnet • $5.99

Rich details in each carefully created piece are both affordable (from $3.99 up to $24.99) and adorable. Pick a Peony Flower Magnet ($3.99) in pink, aqua or white that adds a little sparkle with its gem centerpiece. Acrylic three-compartment caddy, magnetic dry erase wallboards and tabletop accessories dress up her space while adding storage in beautiful order.
Anyone with a tween girl — aged 8 to 14 — in the home knows this is not a frivolous concept. 75% of tweens polled by RoomLookz said their bedroom is their favorite spot in the house. 85% boasted that decorating their room was high on their must-have list. Incredibly, 97% said they would likely purchase locker decorations if transformed for a bedroom! With annual budgets of $50 to $100 reserved for room decor, RoomLookz is destined to be the buzz word of 2015 on social media and tween magazines.
