My Princess is not old enough for “school” quite yet but we have slowly began to incorporate school in our schedule. She is 19 months, still a toddler, does not listen very well, and has a short attention span. So I am limited in “school” type things but here are some things we do daily:
- Count. Anytime there is something I can count (Disney Princess’ on her chair, broccoli florets, toys, etc…) I count and repeat.
- Read. Thanks to great sharing sites like FreeCycle and church friends, she has a lot of used books. We read daily. Yesterday, I read her the book, Learning to Wean, three times in a row. Maybe she will get the hint. ๐ We regularly read the book, Thank You God For My Body. I am convinced this helped her learn all her body parts.
- Sing. So my voice is nothing to write home mom about (silly saying, I suppose) but I still sing with her. She loves singing. We regularly sing ABC and Jesus Loves Me.
- Color. She loves crayons, pens and pencils. So with supervision we color. She has one coloring book right now (Strawberry Shortcake), a sticker book, and on Sesame Street’s website they have coloring pages to print for free (which she loves). She has graduated to coloring on the picture, just all over it.
- Play. We play a lot of pretend games. Such as with the dollhouse, cell phone, and tea party. She loves this kind of play. She also loves chasing games, and being “scared”.
- Clean. Thankfully, right now she loves cleaning. She wants to wipe up spills, pick up spills, put dishes away, load dishes, sweep, mop, and even throw garbage away from mommy’s candy bar snacks. ๐ My husband says he can’t wait until she can get him a drink from the fridge ๐ Our own personal waitress ๐
