It is the season for Swiss Chard. Our local farmers in our county are providing us with great big organic chard, with a beautiful flavor, and full firm green leaves.
Have you had the chance to eat some local organic produce this summer? If not, I encourage you to head to your local Farmer’s Market and stock up on fresh seasonal produce. It is so worth it.
Here is how we made our Swiss Chard:
I chopped the stems like a celery stalk and sauteed them with red onions, garlic, salt, and pepper. Once they were tender I added the leaves (chopped coarsely). I covered the saute pan with a lid and let them steam (the water from washing the leaves allows them to steam nicely) for 7-10 minutes.
Voila! Perfect tasting, healthy Swiss Chard.
*Swiss Chard is high in vitamins A, K and C with one cup containing 214%,716%, and 53% of the recommended daily value.
