We are in a new state. We left New Orleans, and 70+ degree weather and headed to Iowa. Wow! What a big weather difference. When it is 7 degrees with the wind chill – that is cold. The last couple days have been warm here though – above 30 degrees. When the wind dies down that has begun to feel much warmer.
While we were in New Orleans, my Princess made the comment that it didn’t feel like winter. We told her not to worry because we’d get ‘winter’ in Iowa during the month of February. So imagine her delight, when yesterday it snowed. {And imagine mine, when it only snowed about 1 inch?} Not enough snow to go sledding, she still had fun throwing snow balls at us.
Our seminar started with a good crowd. It is always exciting to see people who are interested in hearing the Word of God. Opening weekend, we had one young man attend who lost his brother in November. His brother was 24 and died of a heart attack. Now, this young man, just wasn’t sure he believed in God.
That night’s topic covered why bad things happen to good people. He left that evening after the appeal story, song, and prayer, with tears in his eyes, and a study guide with more information. We are continuing to pray for him, as he struggles with real life questions about God’s love.
I just wanted to share one more thing from our seminar this last weekend. We always take prayer requests each night in a basket at the back of the room. One prayer request came in from a teenage girl:
Please pray for my father to accept Christ in his heart so we can all be together in heaven one day
That prayer request touched my heart this weekend. We travel 8 months out of the year because we are not content to go to Heaven alone. We want to bring as many people as we can. So, though it is hard to travel some days, it will be worth it in eternity. It is exciting to see lives changed!
You left a little early because just yesterday it got down to 25 degrees at night. Bitter cold here. That is a sweet prayer request. Children are always right on in their thinking.
That is cold, Tiffany! I am glad we were there experiencing some great Spring weather while we were there ๐
Yes, I agree, it was a very sweet request.
Oh that is beautiful! It was almost 70 here today so I guess I can say that – but looks great to me!
I moved from Chicago to Iowa thinking the winter would be similar midwest weather – I was so wrong because it was a good 20 degrees colder and the only place my car literally froze up. That north wind is serious up there. I’m glad you are there for great reasons, good to share that love you have..
I have heard that cars can freeze. When we were in Canada people had to plug their cars in!
Yes, that wind is very cold. Yesterday, I didn’t feel that wind and 32 almost felt warm ๐
I was just telling my husband tonight that since it’s mid February in Texas that it’s time for some quick cold!!
wow! I know you’ll definitely get your reward in heaven for doing what you do! You make me miss my days as a missionary in the Philippines!
Thanks, Isis. I appreciate that. Thanks for coming by I appreciate it. It is a lot easier doing work in North America I am sure. I don’t know if I could go to the Philippines for a long amount of time ๐
Blessings!
That is so sweet! You are a very special person!
Thank you, Gena. Your comment has put a smile on my face this morning. Enjoy the rest of your week!
I love that you’re dedicating your life to helping others. I grew up in Iowa. What part of Iowa are you headed to?
Thanks! We are in Dubuque right now. We have been to Spencer and Sioux City before though. Warm winter here this year, and I am grateful. ๐
