Thank you Nuby for sponsoring today’s post.
I am thankful that my daughter, who is 5, has pretty good table manners. We had to work on it though. She wants to stand, run around, chew with her mouth open, and eat whenever she wants to eat. But, we have consistently tried to teach her good meal habits. Here is a list of 8 table manners for kids:
1. Wash hands before dinner.
2. Don’t complain about the food.
3. Eat when everyone else eats or when your parents say you can eat.
4. Chew with your mouth closed.
5. Don’t talk with food in your mouth.
6. Say please and thank you.
7. Instead of reaching ask for the food to be passed to you.
8. Ask to be excused.
The Nûby™ Booster Seat enables our kids to sit at the table with us at a younger age. That way they can learn table manners early. This booster seat is safe, durable and strong. It features a wide sturdy base, and subtle contours that are comfortable and stylish. It comes equipped with safety straps that can be attached to most chairs. Holds up to 65 pounds!
Even Big Sister wants to sit in this one! At almost 50 lbs she is a bit too big, but this is so sturdy and durable I let her. Some days she just wants what brother has. I don’t mind giving in and letting her.

Oooh! Do you know what the start age is for this? Just that my son is 2 and a half and because he’s all over the place, I get scared of him being on a booster seat.
LaVonne says
He can sit on this for sure. There is a belt that attaches to the chair and a belt that attaches to the child. It is a great product!
Michele says
No kids but I think just sitting at the table and not jumping in and out of the chair-or asking to be excused would be a great start!

What a cute booster seat! I think a lot of my preschoolers could do with some table manner lessons! We try to teach them, but it’s gotta be reinforced at home. Unfortunately some of their parents only see them for a couple hours a day and don’t want to deal with it!
LaVonne says
It is hard work. Most parents, I notice, don’t like to do the hard stuff. I don’t “like” it, but I want my kids to learn how to behave well.
Angela says
That is such a cute booster seat! Thanks for the great tips. I had the hardest time getting my son to not talk with food in his mouth.
Sofia says
Definitely no talking with their mouth full and eating with their mouths closed.
Corinne says
Good list! For my wiggle worm son we had to add: Sit with both legs facing forward and both cheeks on the seat. 🙂
LaVonne says
Yes, that is a great addition to this list. Our niece could not sit still at all at meals. It drove her grandpa crazy!
Danielle says
Does the booster strap to the seat?
LaVonne says
Yep. It does. I have not put our 1 year old in it yet. He still sits in his high chair. But, when he gets a bit bigger we’ll be strapping him in!

I had no idea that Nuby made booster seats. Very nice, I love the colors of them.
Loreina says
That looks a lot more sturdy and comfortable than sitting on a phone book! 🙂

These are great tips! We also have to correct the smacking when we hear it. 🙂

Can you please come teach these manners to my kids? Just kidding…kinda. We are trying, but with 3 under 4, getting food in their mouths is an accomplishment. We do always (most always) get the hand washing one though. And I love that idea. I bet all three of my kids could benefit from those Nuby seats!
