Thank you TruKid for sponsoring today’s post.
We are currently on summer vacation in California! We visited the Disneyland Resort, the beach in Carlsbad, and now we are at the Welk Resort. Oh what fun we are having! With all this sunshine and heat, we are getting tan, tired, and so happy! Before we left for our 10 day vacation, I made a list.
I love lists, don’t you?
Of course, the standard things are packed for summer vacation. Things like clothing, toiletries, and diapers. But there are a few things that I just don’t want to forget.
10 Summer Vacation Essentials
- iPad – our family iPad contains movies, games, and our white noise sleep app that I cannot sleep without any more.
- iPod – we still have a lot of music on our iPod touch that is not on our iPad or iPhones. Music on summer vacation is essential. Happy music for sure!
- Laptop – we own 4 laptops and we actually use them all. But on vacation we bring one and share. We have a great marriage and can easily share 1 laptop. No fighting over it ever occurs!
- Point and shoot digital camera – I generally don’t bring our large dSLR camera with us on flights. I like to pack my small digital camera in my laptop backpack. It is easy to take everywhere. I just slip in the diaper bag.
- Personal DVD player – yes, we still buy DVDs for our 5 year old, and she brings her DVD player with her everywhere. It makes an airplane ride a piece of cake and bedtime a delight.
- Kindle – there is nothing like being able to read a new book by the pool. I can use my phone to read since it I have the Kindle app, but I like the larger screen of my original Kindle. {It is well stocked with Kindle freebies!}
- Chargers – we cannot forget any chargers for our electronics. Wall chargers and car chargers are always one the list.
- Pool accessories – on vacation we always like to stay places that have a pool. We bring goggles, rings, torpedoes, and diving sticks.
- Toys and games – our Princess loves card games and they are easy to pack. UNO and Skip-Bo are favorites in our home. My Little Man loves his cars and cell phone.
- Sunscreen – I bring a kid’s sunscreen in at least 30 SPF and I like to bring myself a sunscreen in 15 SPF.

We love our TruKid products. They really are summer essentials. The sunscreen lotion goes on well and smells great. It is a safe to use lotion for the entire family. I love that I can trust the TruKid brand’s ingredients but also the quality of the product. It works. In hot California sunshine we have not been burned. The 2 oz size is perfect to throw in the diaper bag too!
My Little Man gets dry patches of skin, most likely eczema and the Hero Stick is such a great product to have. With mosquitoes in the summer, this soothing balm is a summer vacation essential for the entire family. Plus, I love the scent of Calendula.

I used this on a trip when I was out in the sun all day for a week fishing. It worked great and smelled just as good. I was impressed on how long it lasted.
