I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Gold Toe. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
We are in our RV this week and it’s been hot long days. By the end of the evening I am so tired. Seriously, tired. Everyone is sleeping so hard in this trailer. In fact, my Little Man has been sleeping in his own bed, in the bunkhouse by himself the entire night for the last four nights! It is a miracle. But, it shows how busy, long, hot, and tired we’ve been.
At the end of the day, I want to take a shower, wash off the grime, and put my feet up and relax. Can you relate? My feet are so tired by the end of the day. And honestly, my cheap plastic flip flops have cut into my big toe. It hurts. Thankfully, I have the Oh. So. Soft Gold Toe socks to slip on at night – they’re a God-send. I HIGHLY recommend these socks. Gold Toe are my favorite brand of socks – for good reason. Not only are they well made, but they really are the softest socks I’ve ever owned.
Do you wear Gold Toe?
Besides wearing the amazing Gold Toe socks, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your feet comfortable, soft and nice to be seen in sandals. Mostly though, these tips will help you to protect your feet.
Tips For Healthy Summer Feet
1. Always wear sandals in the gym or around public shower and pool areas. Fungus on your feet is never fun. Athlete’s foot is contagious and easily picked up around public showers. Make sure to keep your sandals on when walking around in the gym or pool showers. Water shoes are perfect for this.
2. Trim nails straight across. While rounded nails may look pretty, they are notorious for causing ingrown nails. For healthy summer feet you really want to avoid an ingrown toenail. Use quality clippers and clip small amounts at a time to clip straight across.
3. Use a pumice stone on rough feet. We all will build up a bit of dead skin on our feet from time to time. Regularly use a pumice stone to smooth out he backs and bottoms of feet. Avoid using callous remover tools as you can remove too much and actually cut into live tissue. Feet can become infected easily since they tend to stay moist in shoes more often. Avoid cuts by using a stone to slough of dead skin instead.
4. Wear shoes that fit. Make sure you are buying the correct size shoe. Various changes in hormones and age can cause feet to widen or grow a shoe size. Go to a shoe store that has a professional available to properly fit your shoe. Find out your correct size and shop for that. Stop putting your feet into heels, sandals or even tennis shoes that are too narrow or too small. This only results in problems with things like bunions, callouses and similar.
5. Avoid flip flops. While they are the most common form of footwear in the summer months, they offer little to no support. They are not a good shoe choice if you are doing any amount of waling. Instead opt for a pair of sandals that has an ankle strap as well to keep your foot in place. This will help your movement to be more fluid and spread out over the entire foot instead of one place.
6. Moisturize regularly. In the summer wearing sandals can leave your feet cracked and dry. Take the time each day to properly moisturize your feet. If you can tolerate it, a nice rich lotion on your feet at bedtime and covered with a pair of Gold Toe socks is a great way to lock moisture in and help heal those cracks.
These tips for healthy summer feet are important not only for aesthetically pretty feet, but overall foot health. Summer months bring heat, moisture and potential for infections and fungus. To keep your feet healthy, follow these tips this year.
