When spring arrives you tend to have a more enthusiastic attitude and often this is the time you choose to completely freshen up your home. Spring is an excellent time for de-cluttering and for taking all those summer items out of storage and giving them a good clean. I was just sharing this last week how we finished organizing our game closet and linen closet. We have the craft closet, kitchen cupboards, and garage also on our Spring clean list.
Do you spring clean?
While you are doing all of this you may also want to get your home checked for pests by a Virginia Beach exterminator. It makes sense to have this as part of your clean start for spring. We are going to take a look at some aspects of spring cleaning you may want to think about, including the importance of pest control.
Getting rid of unwanted items
During the winter months many people tend to horde, and store things away that they do not really need any longer. Once the spring arrives it’s a great opportunity to dispose of all those objects that are no longer of use. The first thing you need to do is get yourself some boxes, tape and pens for labeling.
It’s a good idea to have four boxes in which you can put things you want to keep, things you want to give to charity, things you can sell and things that need to go in the trash. Do not forget that you need to be pretty ruthless during this exercise; there is no point in keeping loads of items that you are just going to store away again. If you are tempted to put something in the “sell” box you need to consider if it is actually worth selling it or if you would be better off donating it. Likewise, it’s important that you do not donate rubbish. If you would not use an item yourself then it may be better off in the trash.
Set yourself plenty of time aside for this task, and do not forget to factor in breaks to make the process a little easier.
Cleaning items for summer
During the summer months you will want to make the most of your time outdoors, so when spring arrives it’s time to clean all of those summer essentials. One of the first things most people think about cleaning is the grill; the food you eat tastes so much better when prepared on a clean grill. You will probably also need to jet wash paths and seating areas, as well as thoroughly cleaning your outdoor furniture. Once all of this is done you are all set for outdoor summer entertaining.
The importance of pest control
As part of your spring clean it’s a good idea to get a pest control expert to complete a thorough examination of your home. As part of this examination they will check for any cracks or gaps where pests could gain entry to your property. They will also check for any signs of a possible infestation, such as damage or excrement. Following the examination the pest exterminator will advise you about any work that needs to be done.
It makes sense to include this pest control action as part of any spring cleaning plan you have.
