Is it almost Easter already? This year is flying by so quickly. It’s hard to believe. I wanted to share some books that our family loves, that I think would make perfect non-candy Easter basket ideas. Yes, I still put candy in the kids Easter basket, but I also like to include new Christian books to enjoy. I have a preschooler and a tween here at home, so this list of books is for the age group specifically.
Easter Books Perfect for Preschoolers
Here are five books that are perfect for kids 2-5. They’d be great in those Easter baskets:
1. All Aboard the Ark – pairs simple rhyming text with charming watercolor illustrations in this delightful board book perfect for little ones.
2. Snuggle Time Prayers – a perfect bedtime collection of fifteen prayers for young children, intended to help them draw closer to God as they drift off to sleep.
3. Little Love Letters From God – a heartwarming collection of eight Bible stories for little ones that include lift-the-flap letters from God written especially for the reader.
4. Adventure Bible for Little Ones – starts children on the journey of a lifetime, teaching them about the Bible’s great stories and themes.
5. Little One God Loves You – This charming board book expresses the five purposes of the bestselling The Purpose-Driven Life for little ones ages 4 and under. Includes a note to parents from Rick Warren!

Easter Books Perfect for Tweens
Tweens can be more difficult than preschoolers to shop for. But I think the following books are perfect for their Easter basket. My own 8 year old will be especially excited for the joke book and the new Glimmer Girls series from Natalie Grant.
1. The Loony Experiment – chronicles one boy’s journey through bullying, first love, and—with the help of an older than dirt and crazier than insanity itself substitute English teacher named Mr. Looney—an up-close examination of the meaning of courage.
2. Big Dreams Big Prayers Bible For Kids – includes the complete New International Version (NIV) of the Bible along with devotions, prayers, and highlighted verses to help kids pray and listen for God’s answers to their prayers.
3. The Purpose Driven Life Devotional For Kids – offers inspiration for children 9-12. Most children at this age form their foundational thoughts about God and their place in the world.
4. London Art Chase – Join twins Mia and Maddie and their sidekick little sister, LuLu, as they embark on international adventure and mischief thanks to their famous mom who travels all over the world singing beautiful songs and a slightly wacky and sometimes negligent nanny named Miss Julia.
5. Lots of Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids – With more than 350 jokes, the laughs are sure to never quit. It’s fun for the whole family and includes bonus Q& A jokes and riddles too!
6. The Plans I Have for You Devotional and Journal – a 90 day devotional that explores how God may use our unique traits to spread love and make the world a better place.
7. Inspiring Words – over thirty inspiring and important Scriptures from the NIV translation are illustrated and decorated in unique line art, allowing you to color in each image as you meditate on God’s Word.

Books make a great (and healthy!) alternative to candy, and they last so much longer than chocolate bunnies. {No offense to chocolate bunnies!}
