Inspired by a true story, ‘The Firing Squad‘ is a powerful journey of redemption on death row. In the heart of Indonesia, three condemned prisoners facing execution find unexpected solace within prison walls. Grappling with their pasts and imminent demise, they embark on an extraordinary transformation. Embracing Christianity, they discover hope, forgiveness, and the power to change their lives, even in the face of the ultimate punishment.
Starring Kevin Sorbo and Cuba Gooding Jr. The Firing Squad has a 1 Hour and 33 minutes run time. Rated PG-13 (Brief Violence|Thematic Elements|Drug References). Releasing in theaters on August 2, 2024.
Well-made faith-based movies are what Christians want. We don’t want poor acting and bad cinematography. The Firing Squad is a well-made faith-based movie. Filmed in a variety of cities, this movie is done well. I had not heard of this true story before watching the film. (This happened in 2015). After spending time in Singapore last December, I am aware of the use of the death penalty in Asian countries. I felt bad for these men, but I realized they knew what they were getting into. I appreciate that this film makes it clear that these men are guilty.
But, I also appreciate that even in the midst of being in a hellish place, you can find hope. The two messages that I loved about this film are:
- There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
- Today is the day of salvation.
Watch this film to see the effects of this powerful faith transformation (small spoiler: watch the finale as the credits roll). Also, this film had a powerful change on Cuba Gooding Jr’s own faith experience! Honestly, watch this movie on August 2, 2024. Support faith-based films – let’s make this movie #1 in theaters the first week of August!
