My husband and I like to foster an environment in our home that encourages our daughter to learn. School starts next week and we are getting her on track. First, we are making sure her bedtime is switching to a school appropriate bedtime this week. Also, we are buying healthy lunch items for her food and for after-school.

We also have a few new after-school science experiments for my daughter. My daughter LOVES science experiments and anytime I can encourage her love of S.T.E.A.M subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics), I will.

Four Simple Science Experiments for Kids
- Go Ice Fishing
- Glitter Tornado
- Morphing Straw
- Green Penny
You can do these simple science experiments at home with your kids too. Simply Google them and you’ll find many tutorials.
We also limit her entertainment usage and I am so thankful for a new show on Netflix – Project Mc². {You’ll get all the details below!} Smart well-done entertainment is one thing that I crave for my daughter. She is starting to get almost too old for the mainstream educational kids shows and the ones that are now geared towards girls are not ones that I always approve of.
Project Mc²
Project Mc² follows four super smart and science-skilled girls as they are recruited to join the spy organization, NOV8 (“Innovate”), and work together to save the day. Project Mc² shows that Smart is the New Cool™ incorporating S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) in a fun way and depicting smart girls, that viewers can relate to, throughout the series.

Project Mc² is a fresh take on the typical tween girl show you’re probably familiar with. The series has S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) organically woven throughout the storyline, making it fun and breaking the stereotype that being smart, funny, stylish and capable are mutually exclusive. Project Mc² reflects today’s tweens in a relatable way, giving girls four empowered female leads to look up to.
There are currently three episodes on Project Mc² on Netflix and we’ve watched them all. Honestly, they are entertaining, fun and smart. This truly is the kind of programming that was missing for the tween age group. It reminds me of a Mission Impossible for kids. These girls are a lot of fun and you really root for them to get the “bad guy”. The spy girls story line is perfect for my daughter. These girls are smart and cool — something that I want my own Princess to be. I love at the end when they catch the bad guy. It reminds me a bit of Scooby Doo how it wraps up and they blame those pesky girls. This Netflix original is a great new pick for the whole family. Give it a try!

My boys love these foods. Maybe that is why they are so smart.
