Sort of.
We have heard it called Boy Scout cobbler too. All we know is it is good! This time of year we pick our favorite summertime weed – blackberries. They grow so well here in Western Washington. And despite a few pokes and scrapes they are relatively simple to pick.
We have made it three times in the last two weeks. Here is the recipe:
- 4-6 cups of wild blackberries
- 1 box organic yellow cake mix (we tried to use the organic version from our local health food store, and it did not turn out)
- 1 Stick of organic butter or vegan margarine (we’ve used both)
- organic sugar to taste
- tapioca, corn starch, or flour to thicken berries
Pre heat oven to 350 Degrees. Clean freshly picked blackberries. Place clean black berries at bottom of 13×9 inch pan. Add sugar to taste. Sprinkly 1-2 tablespoons of cornstarch so you don’t have runny berries after they cook. Mix one box of yellow cake mix with 1 stick of melted butter. Sprinkle mixture evenly over berries. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. And Voila! Easy dessert and YUMMY.
We love to serve it with Tillamook Vanilla Ice Cream. But that is because we love Tillamook!
