It is back to school time. Even though we are homeschooling, we still are getting ready for school this back to school season. We are preparing for one more year of preschool, but this year we will call it Pre-K. I have already been shopping for some new clothes for my Princess (who is growing like a weed), school supplies, and workbooks.
During this time of year do you get the chance to help out other children? I know there are many children who will be going to school without the necessary school supplies and clothing. During this back to school season here are two great ways you can help with the Boys & Girls Club:
About the Boys & Girls Club:
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. It is the place where great futures are started each and every day.
Tools For Back to School:
Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) and Disney have partnered to launch the Tools for Back to School initiative. This initiative features a pop-quiz style game, where supplies are donated to BGCA for every correct answer you score.

jcpenney Receipt Roundup
BGCA has also partnered with jcpenney – and in August you can join jcp cares and round up your purchase at the register to benefit BGCA. So if your total comes to $27.38 – round it up to $28 and the difference will go to the Boys & Girls Club for the month of August.
Aren’t both of these promotions easy to participate in? One is simply a game and the other is rounding up at the register. Help out the Boys & Girls club this month!
BGCA Back to School Tip Sheets:
The Boys & Girls Club also offers parents tips sheets to download and utilize. You can find these at the Boys & Girls club website in the left sidebar under the heading Get Ready! The tip sheets include:
- Time Management Tips
- Think College
- PowerHour Hints for Parents
- Helping Children Set Goals
- Be Ready Parent Tips
A local business in our small town has a drop off for school supplies. The supplies go right to our local small town public school. I am going to be donating to them soon. Now that I know about jcpenney’s promotion, I will round up when I shop there. (I heard they have great clearance going on right now.)
Do you have any great back to school tips for parents?
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I think my biggest BTS tip is getting everyone in the family used to the new routines early. Admittedly, our daughter goes to bed way too late but it works for our lifestyle. Once I go back to work in 2 weeks, we all have to get up earlier so we’ve gradually been going to bed 30 min earlier every night.

We’d have a hard time with that one, Sarah. Though both kids are now going to bed at about 9pm so it is starting to get earlier. We are homeschooling and just stay up later than most families during the school year though. I have not had to use an alarm clock for so long, I am not sure if I could. LOL!

I love the Boys and Girls club. Thanks for letting me know that they paired up with JC penny! Such a great organization!

I love JC Penney. They always have such good sales. I bought my Little Man 3 new onesie style Carter’s shirts for only $2 each this week. They didn’t ask me to round up though? I wish they had. I would have done it.
Also, JC Penney is offering kids free haircuts from grades K-12. That is pretty awesome!
