Traveling 8 hours north of the Canadian border was not easy being as pregnant as I am, but it went pretty well. We arrived in Prince George, B.C. safely and easily. I stopped quite a bit for bathroom breaks and to stretch my legs. Since we have arrived we have been getting great weather. The sun has been out almost every day and it has been over 50 degrees each day. (I still can't figure out how much that is in Celsius, but our van tells us the temp in F.) Things we recommend to do … [Read more...]
Spokane Family Fun
It is so great when we get to have a seminar in the Pacific Northwest. This month we have been in Spokane, Washington and really have been enjoying ourselves. An added bonus is that my husband's brother is attending Gonzaga University so we get the chance to visit with him. (My Princess loves her uncle!) The church we are working with is wonderful! They really understand the meaning of friendship evangelism and connecting with people in their community. Over 20 people have asked to be … [Read more...]
National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium
This last week the weather was cooperative here in Iowa and we decided to head out for some tourist activities. We went down to the Mississippi River and visited the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. When we arrived, I was surprised by how much it cost. It was more than I expected to pay, but we realized that this would be a one time visit and decided to pay the $21 for an adult ticket and $19 for a children's ticket. Our fee included entrance into both museums on the river and … [Read more...]
Winter Weather
We are in a new state. We left New Orleans, and 70+ degree weather and headed to Iowa. Wow! What a big weather difference. When it is 7 degrees with the wind chill - that is cold. The last couple days have been warm here though - above 30 degrees. When the wind dies down that has begun to feel much warmer. While we were in New Orleans, my Princess made the comment that it didn't feel like winter. We told her not to worry because we'd get 'winter' in Iowa during the month of February. So imagine … [Read more...]
Global Wildlife Center
Only, 30 minutes from the hotel we are staying in is one of the coolest things we have done while traveling on the road - Global Wildlife Center. The largest totally free-roaming wildlife preserve of its kind in the country! The Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, Louisiana is home to over 4,000 exotic, endangered, and threatened animals from all over the world. We arrived in time for the first tour of the day and puposely chose the back of the caravan, hoping that the giraffes would come … [Read more...]
Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium
What a fun day to spend with family. After our exciting day the Audubon Zoo, we took one more day to visit the Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium. Deciding which lot to park, took a bit of time. The Aquarium validates one lot, and we wanted to find that lot. {Isn't it stressful when you don't know where you are going?} Our Princess loved the aquarium - I think even more than the zoo. With so many sea creatures to watch and learn about, we were thankful that God created such beautiful things … [Read more...]
Do Monkeys Bite?
We visited the Audubon Zoo this last weekend in New Orleans. What fun! The Audubon Zoo is a pretty large zoo with lots of exciting animals to see. We walked for just a little over 4 hours and didn't even see all the exhibits and animals. The price was right too. For $35 per person we were able to get tickets not only for the zoo but also the Audubon Aquarium, IMAX, and Audubon Insectarium. We loved the swamp exhibit with the alligators; and the primates are always a favorite. The orangutan … [Read more...]
