I am now currently in the third week of my healthy living journey. This week, I have been working on making peace with myself. Making peace with how I look now, with the clothing size I am in, with the number on the scale. I must remind myself that God does not love me any more or any less based on these numbers. What He wants is my heart. I am worth more than any of those numbers. I'm not gonna lie. This has been hard. I love snacking on highly processed, high sugar foods. But, I am excited … [Read more...]
What is Your Favorite Bible Character?
Do you have a favorite Bible character? I have a hard time narrowing it down. My daughter loves the story of Abraham, since that was what we learned about the last few weeks in Bible class. But her favorite character keeps changing. I have always loved the Bible stories of Moses, Daniel, and Joseph. "Seasons of Gray: A Modern Day Joseph Story" tells the beloved biblical tale of Joseph in a relevant and modern way. This film released on DVD Jan. 28, 2014. About Seasons of Gray The … [Read more...]
Powerless to EMPOWERED? Made to Crave Week 1
I have learned a lot about myself this week by participating in the online Bible study for Made to Crave. These were things that I already knew, but was not facing. So by reading the first few chapters of this book (with 40K other participants!) I had a bit of a wake up call. Do you live in a vicious cycle like me? I live in at least two vicious cycles: I crave what I eat then I eat what we crave. I vow to do better, make excuses throughout the day, then promise to do better again … [Read more...]
I’m Doing the Made to Crave Online Bible Study! Join Me?
So this month, I have been back on track with a healthier lifestyle. I want to lose weight. But, I also want to be more healthy. With two children underfoot, I want to give them a good example in healthy eating and maintaining a healthy weight. So I am doing it. Again. After baby number two came, getting rid of the weight has not been as easy. Maybe, since I am older than I was with baby number one (five years older!), it isn't coming off as easily. Or maybe it is because I have not really … [Read more...]
Kindergarten Bible Class: Abraham Activities
This last week, we've went over the story of Abraham in our Bible class. Each day, I follow our lesson plan and read a part of the story of Abraham. When the section of the story is over, my Princess doesn't want it to end. She wants me to read the next day's portion. She really loves the story of Abraham and Sarah. We were both pleased this weekend when they had Greatest Heroes and Legends of the Bible on TBN. It was the show entitled Sodom and Gomorrah but much of the story was about … [Read more...]
Do You Need an AHA Moment in Your Spiritual Life?
Labeled by Idleman himself as a “God-help” book rather than a “self- help” book, AHA unveils how three key elements can deepen our faith and change our lives forever. I was excited to get this book because honestly, I think I need more AHA moments in my own spiritual life. But, according to Idelman, many of these moments come out of difficult times in our life. Man, oh man, I don't like difficult times. Yet, it is true, the times when I drew closest to the Lord were the hard times in my … [Read more...]
Trials and Tribulations: Bible Verses to Help
We've had a rough week. The trials and tribulations this week just felt overwhelming. Do you have weeks like that? Negative things never end it seems. You wonder, can anything else happen? That was my week this past week. Can I vent a bit on here? This week, we had problems with Straight Talk cell phone service. My husband's phone has been shut off for four days now. We are doing everything we can to get it back up. There is no communication at ST and their customer service is seriously … [Read more...]
