On our flight home from California, my husband and I had a delay.I hate delays!I am thankful that the Sacramento airport has free wi-fi. That makes a delay much more manageable.I began to want junk food. You know, eat to kill time. Bad habit of mine. So I went into the small newspaper and snack shop where everything costs a small fortune. And I found a new favorite:Popchips in BBQ flavor. One serving is only 120 calories! That works for me! They taste fabulous. My husband did not want any of … [Read more...]
Toddler Lunch
You know how toddlers are independent, strong willed, and somewhat annoying at times? Yes, you must know what I am talking about. It is enough to sometimes drive a mommy CRAZY.But then, you realize, you get a GLIMPSE, of why this independence is so great… She can make her own lunch now! Whohooo… I can see it now: PB and Jam for breakfast, lunch and dinner. *okay, maybe not but I am still quite happy. … [Read more...]
Edamame Is Good For You
And my Princess loves it! Edamame are green soybeans in the pod that are picked before they ripen. Preparing edamame is so easy too. We buy it ours frozen at the local grocery store. You can easily find it organic, which are happy for; soybeans truly are best when bought organic. They even sell them dry roasted to eat as a snack. The frozen edamame just needs to be boiled for 5 minutes and we like to lightly salt them. A quick and healthy side to any plate; much better with … [Read more...]
Crocodile Isabella
Isabella was quiet in the office this morning. Whenever she is unusually quiet I know she is up to something. So I checked on her, and sure enough she was working hard at getting her Crocs on. Isabella LOVES her Crocs. She didn't do too bad either.Today, I went to Target and was able to buy 20 Fiber One items (bars, toaster pastries, and cereal) for $18 OOP and got back $20 in Target Gift Cards. That is a $2 money maker! I love when stores pay me to buy products. I also love getting all my fiber … [Read more...]
Isabella’s Top 10
(in no particular order)1. Cheerios and Spaghetti - she is going through this stage where she doesn't want anything but cheerios and shaghetti. Even things she used to love - like bananas - are passed on by. (Oh, and she will always eat a little of mommy's soy ice cream at night or popcorn.)2. Throw Your Hands in the Air - is a game that her and daddy play every day. He puts her on his shoulders and he sings, "throw your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care", and she sings … [Read more...]
New Things Every Day
So, Isabella is sleeping with us and it has been getting difficult for me. She is waking up almost every hour and wants to eat to fall back to sleep. So we have been debating what to do. Put her in her bed? Use our playpen? Take a free crib from friends at Amazing Facts? We are just trying to decide. So the last two nights I decided to just let her wake up and not feed her. Enter tears, and whining. But I pushed through and didn't give in and she fell back to sleep - on her own! I was so happy. … [Read more...]
Chicken? Well at least it was organic.
Well, my daughter is not quite 10 months old and she ate chicken! I was feeding her a left over Gerber Organic winter squash mixed with corn and she finished it. So I took out a new 3rd stage Earth's Best Organic Soup - split pea and carrot. She took her first bite of this new soup and made a small face but liked it well enough. After the third bite, I noticed something on the front that I didn't see when I bought it at BRU. The two small words that I should have noticed - "with … [Read more...]
