It is not secret that Reading has been my daughter's least favorite subject in school. She didn't like it in homeschooling, and now she isn't a big fan at her private Christian school. I have always had a great love for books and reading, since before I was her age. I started reading at the age of three and haven't stopped. I am hoping my daughter will one day share my own love for reading. Which is why getting her a Kindle with books I know she will love on it, is my best bet on creating a love … [Read more...]
Reading to Her Brother (melts my heart)
My Princess is reading a lot better now that were a few months into first grade. She still doesn't love it, but she is doing pretty good with it. Unless you make her read, she will always ask you to read for her. I do my best to make her try to read all the signs and directions and titles we come across now. She fights it still. But every now and then, I catch my Princess next to her little brother reading to him. He LOVES books and always wants to be read to. I am a big fan of books. I … [Read more...]
We’re Using Technology to Learn to Read
I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Rosetta Stone. I received a product and a promotional item to thank me for participating. We are making our way slowly through our first grade homeschool curriculum. Most days it is a struggle. Homeschooling is not easy. She complains a lot, does really well in her lessons, and really has no desire to attend our local private Christian school. I am leaning towards sending her. My husband and I are still … [Read more...]

9 Books on My List this Summer
Do you love reading? I do. I honestly love reading. There are some books that I just don't want to end. They become my friends. My life is not condusive to reading, unfortunately. Traveling in an RV for my husband's job, homeschooling my daughter, parenting a rambunctious (I trying to be nice with that word) two year old boy, and maintaining this blog DOES NOT give me much time to read. Praise the Lord for Audiobooks.com. Now, I can listen to my books. Someone else with a great voice can … [Read more...]
Printable Summer Reading Checklist for Kids
This summer my Princess will still be finishing up Kindergarten homeschool. We have decided instead of giving her 2-3 months off in the Summer, we'll homeschool year round. In August we'll give her (and me) two weeks off before we start 1st grade. A Harvard Family Research Project in 2011 shows the importance of year round learning for kids. What do you think of year-round learning? I want her to keep learning through the summer and one way for us to do that is to have a Summer Reading List. … [Read more...]
Books Make the Best Gifts Don’t They?
This Easter are you giving your kids books in their basket? Books make the best gifts, don't they? My daughter is not fond of reading yet. We are just learning in Homeschool Kindergarten and she is doing great. But I have to make her read. Though she loves being read to, she hasn't fallen in love with reading. I really hope she does.
